<흑인 영가>

 

음악은 종종 종교와 관련이 있다.

 

기독교에는 사람들이 부르는 많은 종류의 노래가 있다.

 

'찬송가', '캐럴', 또 다른 것들이 있다.

 

또 하나의 음악 형태는 '영가'이다.

 

영가는 18세기에 미국에서 처음 작곡되었다.

 

그 당시 미국에서는 종교에 대한 관심의 부흥이 있었기 때문에 영가가 작곡되었다.

 

영가는 흔히 아주 영감을 주는 노래들이었다.

 

그들은 성서에서 나온 이야기와 주제들에 관한 것이었다.

 

양식에 있어서는 민속음악이나 민속 찬송의 일종이었다.

 

영가는 흔히 흑인 미국인들에 의해 불렸다. 그러나 백인 영가도 많이 있었다.

 

이런 영가들은 만든 흑인들 대부분은 아프리카에서 온 노예들이었다.

 

그래서 영가는 아프리카의 영향을 강하게 받았다.

 

그들은 후에 유럽 및 미국의 영향과 합쳐졌다. 그 결과가 영가였다.

 

오늘날 영가 음악은 '가스펠 음악'이라고 불린다.

 

그것은 아주 종교적인 음악 형태이다.

 

온갖 사람들이 가스펠 음악을 노래하고 듣는다.

 

그것은 사람들에게 영감을 주고 또한 위안을 준다.

<Spirituals>

 

Music is often related to religion.

 

In Christianity, there are many kinds of songs people sing.

 

There are 'hymns', carols, and others.

 

Another form of music is the 'spiritual'.

 

Spirituals were first written in the eighteenth century in the United States.

 

They were written because there was a revival of interest for religion in the U.S. at that time.

 

Spirituals were often very inspiring songs.

 

They were about stories and topics from the Bible.

 

As for style, they were a kind of folk music or folk hymn.

 

Spirituals were often sung by black Americans. Yet there were also many white spirituals.

 

Many of the blacks who made these spirituals were slaves from Africa.

 

So spirituals are influenced strongly by Africa.

 

They later combined with European and American influences. The result was spirituals.

 

Nowadays, spiritual music is called 'gospel music'.

 

That is a form of music that is very religious.

 

All kinds of people sing and listen to gospel music.
